I am finding that we really can paddle in Little River on almost any day. This past week we had 2 paddlers out, with a BUILDING SWELL, AND AMAZING CALM CONDITIONS. WE PADDLED OUT TO THE BOUY AND CHECKED OUT THE SEA LIONS, made a gigantic loop, viewing the headlands, blowholes, and shorebirds. Right now we have migrating Grebes swimming around as well as the usual. Never a bad day. Thanks so much.......

Season Openers

We had an awesome day of paddling last weekend and are expecting a great year. Seals should be having their pups soon and the water is calling us to get back on it. We had a 3 week break in Punta De Mita mexico and did lots of Stand up paddling and some surfing. Looking forward to seeing all the happy faces on our trips coming up.......

Happy Holidays to all from us all here at Kayak Mendocino. We are not paddling much, but have had a few classic days in between big swells and rain. We are happy to get out there whenever anyone wants to, and the sea caves and channels are working. I am missing the big smiles and stoke of all of you that paddled with us this year, and I hope to share the magic again in 2011 on the water at the Little River coves. Mendocino Paddling Bliss

These Summer days have been amazing and lots of wows are being heard. Our Dog Onyx has paddled twice and Dylan now is a veteran at 20 months. Everyone is stoked and really enjoying. Even the foggy 2 months was incredible. We are looking forward to the fall and the clear cool days and amazing crispy views. The kelp is thick and beautiful, the seals plump and happy, and the caves as splendid as ever. Hope you enjoy, Craig

Paddlefest Daily

We are off and paddling and it is as good as it gets. As many times as I have done this, it still gets better and better. Each paddler brings a new outlook and smile to the caves and channels and I love the expressions as we enter the first tunnel. he weather has been a challenge, but we have forecast perfectly and not had to cancel any trips. Here are some images from my friend Chuck Graham on a recent visit up from Santa Barbara. Pretty awesome. Come experience it for yourself.We will be happy to cater to whatever need you have. Experienced or not, we have something for you. the Ocean has its way of doing that here.

Great conditions, great times. We are loving it and have had a blast on the rivers and at the caves and coves of little River. My wife Magdalena has even gotten into Sup paddling and really inspiring others to get out there. Tours are running daily through the Sea caves and we can customize anything you want. Mendocino has the best paddling in Cali, and really some of the best in the world. Come say hi and try out a SUP or sit on top kayak through the mystical (ha ha) caves and channels. Really, you need to experience it for yourself, instead of hearing how I describe it........

We have been closed for a little while, and have been enjoying the warm weather in Chile where we paddled a remote lake and savored some of the fine wines and seafood of this country.
This season we are excited to announce and bring all our new and returning customers the awesome sport of Stand Up paddling. These wide and stable boards allow for paddling either standing, prone, sitting, or kneeling. we will offer tours, lessons and rentals and cannot wait to share this with you. It is a great work out, and offers a unique perspective of being on the water. The caves, coves and channels of Little River will take on new appeal, and the seals will look on with amazement.

Letting the Sea Rest

Winter time here on the coast and we are going to close for january and February. We have had some great trips, mostly just checking the sea caves out and letting the winter surf crash inside of them. I would like to thank everyone who came out with us this last year and all our great restaurants and Inns that sent paddlers our way. it is great to work with the likes of Little River Inn, Glendeven inn, Surf Motel, Beachcomber Motel and so many more to name a few. happy Holidays. This photo is of our pet fossilized whale, where the blowhole is. It is only 10 minutes max paddling from our launch at Little River Cove at Van Damme State Park. I think it is amazing and if in Australia wopuld be a national monument.Come check it out, when our Sea Cave Nature tours start up again in late february. We look forward to greeeting all the visitors to the Mendocino/Fort Bragg coast and taking them on an amazing kayak trip.

Best paddling/Historical Location/Fun, Fun, Fun

We are in the swing of the best time to paddle. We are seeing pelican and sea lions feed everyday, hunting osprey, harbour seals and more. everyday is amazing. this location is so historical. Check out this photo of the bay back in the logging days. We launch right here and go through this headland pictured. So cool. Kayak Mendocino is so happy to share this journey with everyone and we hope you can make it on on of our sea cave tours soon. Dylan my 7 month old son has been out twice now and loves it as well. Still a little time until he paddles, but I will be patient with him. Give us a call, and come check out the magic as we glide over the seaweeds and giant kelp forest, and go back in time to see the geology and animal life as it was thousands of years ago.

The baby seals and My boy Dylan are so similar in looks. Chubby and happy. Both Moms are taking great care of them and on our Sea Cave Nature tour you can see how connected we all are. it is amazing to weave in and out of the channels and see the seals going about their lives like they have for millions of years. Please do not be shy, or scared. Remember, all ages and no experience necessary are able to go through the sea caves here and paddle our guided adventures at Little River, 2 miles south of Mendocino. Blessings to all. We have been paddling a lot and it has been great. we have many new exciting things in store for the coming year. New locations and routes, including other parts of the fort Bragg/mendocino Coast. They will include caves, rivers, channels and who knows what awaits. The newest addition to our team is here. Dylan Taj Come was born on December 14th and is already loving the water and fussing if he does not get to stay in it long enough. We welcome him with so much love and look forward to taking him on all the great tours. Lost Coast Trip/Kayaking Mendocino Sea Caves

What a fall. We took a trip up to the lost coast, launching from south at Westport. Perfect conditons and amazing paddling. We packed food, campgear and surfboards and scored perfect little waves and solitude. On another note, we are still paddling the calm smooth days at van Damme in Little river, and guests have been super happy with the conditions and experience. We will go year round and not miss a good day when anyone wants to join us. Please call in advance. Hope everyone is doing well. Now the big news. We are expecting our fisrt child, a little boy named Dylan. He will be out there paddling soon and growing up with the seals and seastars.

The World s Oceans are One

So close to the shore but so far away. We glide across the water and we skim through the caves. Less then a mile away cars whiz by and folks go about thier daily activities. We are off the land and have now become a part of the Worlds oceans. They are all connected. For all the appreciation we have, and all the joy we have been given from this environment, we must give back and be advocates to protect and save the seas. Please help in any way you can. Our lives and those of of our children and grandchildren depend on it, not to mention all the life inhabiting the waters.

We are so blessed to be able to paddle at Van Damme in Little River. We could not have designed it better. It allows us gentle, smooth, protected channels on almost everyday. It has just the right amount of excitement, challenge and sea life. The views are amazing in all directions. The winds help us to glide back from the trip. All is perfect. It is not to be missed. The baby seagulls are now hatched and Momma and Papa look very proud. Everyday I feel so fortunate to take locals and visitors alike out on this amazing trip. EXPERIENCE THE MAGNIFICENCE!!!!!

Yes it is that time of year when normally the fog and fog wind come around. It is here , but where we paddle and what we do is still magnificent and easy. Seagulls circus act and Deer

Today was classic. I paddled 2 tours to the north and they were great. Everyone love it. On one rock we came across 2 seagulls, one standing on the others back balancing. The one on bottom was wiggling, trying to get the other to climb down. What an act. I was laughing so hard. After a few minutes the silly bird climbed down. Soon after we saw a young deer down by the waters edge staring down a young seal. It was on the rocks, no grass in sight to eat, only salty water and seaweed. There is always someting different to see on our Kayak Mendocino Sea cave and nature tours. Hope you can join us soon. Craig

Our trips are running daily at Van Damme State Park in Mendocino, and the seals are welcoming us on every trip. I hear wow from so many customers and the smiles speak for themselves. It is such a special place and I feel fortunate to guide others through the caves and narrow passageways.
